I was cleaning out my car over the weekend and found a Vanessa Williams CD under one of the car seats that I used to play all the time.  Don’t you love it when you unexpectedly find things that you forgot about?  I think the best surprise is when you put on a jacket or a coat you haven’t worn in awhile and you find money in the pockets.  Yes! Isn’t that a great feeling?

In any case, getting back to my newly found CD, music is always a great friend.  Every morning as I drive to work, I do listen to the radio but at some point it always feels as if there’s too much talking or too many ads being aired and then it’s time to switch over to a CD.

It’s Monday and for me it’s hard to get going.  It feels as though I just got of work on Friday evening and then zip here it is Monday morning.  It’s so unfair that the work week drags along and then Saturday and Sunday fly by so quickly.

And that’s where music comes in.

Listening to music is one of the quickest ways I know to change your mood.  Had an awful day? Stressed out or feeling that your brain is totally fried?  Find something soothing or upbeat to listen to and let music wash over and soothe your frazzled soul.  Depending on the song, sometimes I sing along (even though my voice is not good at all) and I find that also helps me vent my stress and feel a lot better.

Music is a quick stress reliever but it also can get you pumped up for running or other exercise.  I think that’s why people are always interested in seeing other people’s playlists because then they discover new songs and can rework their own playlists for parties or gym time.  I think most people are always on the lookout for that next great song that they can’t do without and have to play over and over for inspiration.

Music enriches our lives on so many different levels and creates exciting connections no matter what our age.

So straight out of 1988, here is Vanessa Williams classic old school song called Dreamin.

Wishing you a Monday full of great healing energy and keep on dreamin, dreamin.

Sirius XM has a temporary Billy Joel channel 18. It is wonderful. No commercials. Billy Joel talks a lot about the song coming up, why he wrote it, and when he wrote it. It has been a trip down memory lane. I’d forgotten about so many of his songs. Piano Man has always been my favorite of all time. Unfortunately the channel is only going through March 15th. It has been great with all the time I spend on the road! Oh, and I never knew Piano Man is a true story with true characters. “Bill, will you sing me a memory? I’m not really sure how it goes. But it’s sad and sweet and I knew it complete when I wore a younger man’s clothes.” Pure genius
