My car has been in the repair shop for the past 24 hours so public transportation is my way to get home for awhile.

When I got off the Metro last night, I decided to do without riding the bus and instead walk the rest of the way home.

It’s a little over a mile from the Metro stop to my home but it was a warm evening and I wasn’t in a hurry and I thought the walk would be good for me after sitting at a desk most of the day.

On a morning walk in my neighborhood yesterday, I came upon a middle-aged man standing inside a huge moving van parked on the street.  He was calmly talking to a woman who was leaning against a car and she appeared to live across the street from him. Vacation. Isn’t it a great word? Although it’s a verb, the word vacation doesn’t evoke action to me.  When I hear the word vacation I think about the air being let out of a balloon.  Or exhaling slowly. I am in vacation right now and I feel blessed to be having one.  I am off-schedule, under the radar and very much unplugged, living in an alternate universe of sleeping in, eating and reading books whenever I want and not knowing what time it is.
