The dentist.  Oy Vay! I went to the dentist yesterday morning for a teeth cleaning and I’m soooo glad it’s over.  My dentist is a really nice guy and tries to make it as painless as possible but I really hate going.  I try to do all the things you’re supposed to do to take care of your teeth but in the end, it’s just so boring.  A dentist visit may be healing but there was definitely no laughing or crying going on during my appointment.Just relief!

Have you ever been in an emergency room at 2 am? Unfortunately, my son and I found ourselves there Sunday night because we needed to take my Dad to the hospital for medical attention to various issues that by themselves were not a big deal, but taken collectively, for a man in his 80’s, they added up to a serious situation. My family currently has a number of medical situations happening and this past weekend was spent checking in with various people to see what I could do to help the caregivers.  Each situation is stressful for different reasons and the caregivers are doing fantastic jobs but they can’t do it all by themselves. I feel very lucky to have good health and after spending four hours in an emergency room Tuesday evening, I have renewed my commitment to doing all I can to preserve it. My Dad had an urgent eye incident and he needed immediate medical attention so we drove to one of the local hospitals here in Washington, DC and waited for a diagnosis.  You can debate the pros and cons of Obama’s health care bill until the cows come home but it all falls away when you are in an emergency room.
