There is something about the word simple that makes me feel at ease.

I’m not sure why it makes me feel that way but it does.

Simple.  As in streamlined.  As in efficient.  As in making sure that a lot of superfluous stuff doesn’t get in the way of finding a well worn path to tranquility.

As in breaking down complicated situations and keeping them simple.

It’s a word that I hang on to when life gives me a lot to handle.

To me, this picture captures that wonderful unfettered feeling of freedom:  the freedom of possibility, the freedom of creativity.  I imagine myself inside the VW van, humming along on the highway.  It’s warm outside, not hot hot, and the windows are down; Janis Joplin’s great whiskey voice is singing, “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose. . .” Today when I see those VW wagons driving down the highway, I am instantly reminded of my childhood in the 1960’s and the sometimes excellent adventures of being a teenager.  It was a lot fun but I don’t think I… Read More

Many years ago, one of my aunts generously gave me a book about people’s first-hand experiences with angels called Angel Letters by Sophy Burnham.
