So many things to do and all day to do it.

And the best part:  it all gets done while I’m still in my pj’s.

Snow days are absolutely the best!!

Yesterday the federal government was shut down, the schools were shut down, local buses were not running (at least not in the morning) and Metro was experiencing delays (what else is new!).

What’s a girl to do?

Stay snuggled up at home.  Do work.  Check email.  Write responses.  Eat popcorn at 11 am. Cook a little. Go back to the trusty computer and do more work. Throw in a load of laundry.  Do more work.  Make a pile of books to donate.  And let the day progress, all at my own speed.

I do believe that everyone needs a snow day.

I think of it as nature’s way of putting the brakes on my usual “run around and get it done yesterday” schedule and giving me the surprising gift of a day of glorious down time; allowing me to take a deep breath or two, look out the window at a neighborhood of clean and crisp looking snow and enjoy another cup of hot tea before going outside to shovel the sidewalk and clear the snow and ice off my car.

I can hear some children in the neighborhood playing outside in the snow, laughing at being cold and throwing snowballs at each other.

Good for them!!

PS.  I know the above picture of the adorable giant panda cub Bao Bao is random but I couldn’t resist! She lives at the National Zoo in Washington, DC and seeing pictures of her rolling around in the snow is too cute!
