Since it’s Monday and that fact on it’s own may make it difficult to get going, I thought I would share a song that always make me feel upbeat.

Listening to John Legend’s smooth velvety voice in this song, “A Good Night,” is a definite stress buster but I think there’s something extra reassuring when I hear him sing the words — as though he is telling me personally — “Everything’s gonna be all right.”

In the song, Legend sings that he thinks everything’s gonna be all right because he thinks he just met his wife.  But for our purposes, … Read More

Yesterday was an absolute lousy day.  I arrived home from work and was not feeling good about my little world but was also looking for a way to rid myself of those negative, counter-productive feelings left over from the office.   While making dinner, I checked my email to see if there was some wonderful piece of news that would cheer me up.  My stressed out mood buster came in the form of an email from Pip, my cousin’s talented son and singer who participated in season two of NBC’s The Voice as part of  Adam Levine’s team. Pip in Los Angeles… Read More

Emmylou Harris Happy Birthday Emmylou Harris!!  The Grammy-winning singer songwriter turns 65 today and I thought it would be appropriate to share one of my favorite songs that she wrote with another Grammy-winner, Bill Danoff. The song, Boulder to Birmingham, recounts her feelings of grief in the years following the death of country rock star and mentor Gram Parsons.  Danoff also recorded the song with his group, Starland Vocal Band, on their self-titled debut album. It is a beautiful, haunting song.  I think we all can identify with that feeling of doing anything, even walking from Boulder to Birmingham, to… Read More

The multi-talented singer songwriter Jewel At The Golden Globes While watching the Golden Globes this past Sunday night, I was reminded of a beautiful song that the singer/songwriter Jewel performed in 2010 during the “In Memorium” section of the program.  Jewel said she wrote the song, titled “A Hole In My Heart,” about a friend who had recently passed away. Thanks to Google, I found the lyrics to her touching song and thought I would share them with you: “A Hole In My Heart” By Jewel September settled softly Leaves are starting to fall I recall, last time you were… Read More
