You’re having a day.

Guess what?  So am I!

Let’s join each other in encouragement.

encouragement

We know it’s hard.  It’s stressful and sometimes it’s even lonely and painful.

And yet I know I don’t want to give up.  And I know you don’t want to either.  Because right around that corner or even the next time we try to go at a problem and process those feelings of frustration, there is the possibility that it could go away.

Right?

What is the purpose of always being in a position of trying to solve something?  Sometimes I’m not sure.  Sometimes, I … Read More

Monday Calm & Renewal

It’s Monday.  I know.  I hear myself joining you in a collective groan. But instead of immediately thinking of all the things I need to accomplish this week, I am going to pause.  And breathe.  Deeply.  Closing my eyes again (not to go back to sleep) and letting my neck slowly drop as I breathe in and remain still. I am determined not to be in a hurry.  I don’t want to rush and I don’t want to be late but I also need to fill my emotional reserves with a feeling of inner calm before I tackle a new… Read More

Hi there Resilient Readers: I’ve been off the grid for a while and am happy to be back.  I needed to take a bit of break but I missed you A LOT and hope your life is currently full of some magical mixture of love, laughter and vibrant health. While I have been juggling some challenging issues affecting my family and friends, it has pushed me into having some spirited conversations and lots of quiet thought about what really makes life go ’round. I think it pretty much comes down to five things, and for me, the following five things… Read More

Make It Work

I love Tim Gunn.  What I especially love about Tim Gunn is that he is oh so comfortable in his own skin and doesn’t try to be anybody other than himself. Gunn, the co-host and breakout star of Lifetime TV’s, Project Runway, is an endearing combination of someone who personally is pinned down and pulled together yet works in and respects the loose and push-the-envelope atmosphere of creativity and artistry that comes with the long running cable television series where fashion trends are sometimes born. Gunn recently came on my radar screen when a good friend posted an interview he… Read More

Dear Resilient Readers: You know that quote from Mahatma Gandhi that says something like if you change yourself you can change your world? It’s a bold thought and one I decided I should check out for myself.  On one level, I have always known that if I change certain things in my life that my world will change.  Take for example if I change what I eat or  how much I exercise.  I understand the different results I will get when I pursue those kinds of changes in my life. But what would happen if I changed the way I… Read More

An Irish Sense of Humor

I love a holiday just as much as anyone else but to me St. Patrick’s Day is not just a day to “green up” and drink a lot of booze. It’s a whole lot more. It’s also a day to celebrate my Irish heritage and the unique way the Irish laugh at life.  I take pride in knowing that the Irish have a rich and historic culture made up of a lot more than pub crawling.  We also are a people known for having a wicked sense of humor.  A bit rough and tumble you might say. Growing up in… Read More

Changing Energy With Love

This past weekend marked a changing of the clocks, the official beginning of Daylight Savings time.  I always look forward to this time of the year because we gain an extra hour of glorious sunlight and more time outdoors which I love.  I know.  We also lose an hour of sleep but after a day or two I think the trade off is worth it. For me the first day of daylight savings time coincided with a much needed day trip to Richmond, VA to visit two fab people in my life: my son and his girlfriend.  I indulged in… Read More

Monday morning is here already and I hope your weekend went just as you planned! For me, I wish I were feeling a little more refreshed and revived because don’t you hate it when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night? When your mind is thinking about things that have carried over from your day? This has happened to me a few times recently and I plan to roll with it until I can get back on track.  For even as we plan for the best to happen in our lives, sometimes traumas and tragic losses of… Read More

Pajama Day

So many things to do and all day to do it. And the best part:  it all gets done while I’m still in my pj’s. Snow days are absolutely the best!! Yesterday the federal government was shut down, the schools were shut down, local buses were not running (at least not in the morning) and Metro was experiencing delays (what else is new!). Photo Courtesy of Reuters What’s a girl to do? Stay snuggled up at home.  Do work.  Check email.  Write responses.  Eat popcorn at 11 am. Cook a little. Go back to the trusty computer and do more… Read More
