During the summer when I was a child, my mother used to let me and my siblings sit on the front steps of our house after the sun had set and it was almost night time.  We had taken our baths and we go outside in our pajamas.  It felt adventurous and at the same time silly!! What risk takers we were, right?
We loved it because we got to stay up late since there wasn’t school to attend and there also was an incredible feeling of freedom and naughtiness.  We would play games outside in the warm summer air … Read More

Life Can Be A Beach

Today I choose to be positive and constructive. What does that mean? It means I am going to adopt and hang on to a beach mentality for as long as I can.  Every day at the beach I pack up my things and go and find a treasured spot to hang out.  Sometimes my friends are there first and sometimes I get there first.  But we stake out our spot in the warm and welcoming sand and the day just slowly rolls out and evolves.  We talk about nothing in particular, we read for awhile, we test out the ocean… Read More

Go Go’s Album Cover Featuring the hit song “Vacation” Vacation All I ever wanted Vacation Had to get away. . . Vacation lyrics by: Kathy Valentine/Charlotte Caffey/Jane Wiedlin Having been in the workforce for decades, I am familiar with watching people work themselves sick.  Literally. I love the scent of lavender.  Too bad there isn’t smell-a-vision for the picture above, right? At the farmer’s market near my office, a lavender farmer is one of the vendors and it is heavenly to smell the soaps, creams and oils he sells.  I knew you could cook with  lavender but I didn’t know that it had secret sleeping powers.  Browsing around in one of my health books, I came upon some information that might help those of you who are struggling with getting a good night’s sleep. Grief can put your sleeping patterns into a netherworld of having… Read More

Art by Sandy Gingras I love Sandy Gingras because she is a beach woman just like me!!!! She understands the magical pull of the ocean, the sand and the sun and her whimsical art reflects the need that a lot of us feel. I am happy to be at the beach any time of the year.  Even when it’s winter and it’s freezing outside, I still think about the ocean a lot.  I need to listen to the cleansing sound of the waves and feel the wind on my face.  Our family went to the ocean for a few days… Read More

Courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s A million things are jumbling around in my brain today and I am trying to follow my own advice about being what a good friend of mine calls “a little stressy”: Breathe Eat Well Exercise Get Sleep Rest Take it step-by-step Break the work into 10 minute increments Breathe Righttttttttttt…..What I really want to do is eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream or a whole bag of Ruffles potato chips.  Now that would really do the trick!!… Read More
