Today marks my 300th post.

It’s a personal milestone and truly a huge deal for me.  Big thanks go out to all of my family (especially my son, Ryan, who is my biggest blog cheerleader), friends and readers out there in the internet world who read Cry, Laugh, Heal.   You give me more than you know and I read and respond to all of the great feedback I receive!  And I hope to receive lots more feedback as I continue to write about the incredibly silly, sometimes sad and mostly spontaneous events that happen to me on my new journey … Read More

Gangnam Style

I’m taking a break today and enjoying the popularity of “Gangnam Style.” “Gangnam Style” makes me laugh and laughing helps you cope with life.  Laughter is very powerful medicine and I try to use humor as much as possible to get through the ordinary hassles and crises I face. Courtesy of The Levo League, I saw the above picture yesterday posted on the company’s Facebook page and had to share it!  The man pictured in the blue tuxedo jacket is South Korean rapper Psy.  I didn’t even know rap existed in South Korea but there you go! The “Gangnam Style”… Read More

Lizzie Velasquez A woman I work with came into my office yesterday afternoon and said,  “You have to go on Yahoo and read this amazing story about a woman who weighs only 60 pounds.” What???? Of course, I logged on to Yahoo and right away I saw the story about a 23-year-old woman who weighs only 60 lbs, has no body fat or muscle and must eat every 15 to 20 minutes to sustain herself.  Tragically, Lizzie Velasquez of San Antonio, TX is one of only three people in the world born with this rare medical condition. My heart… Read More

Exciting News:  Pip, who was a finalist during the second season of  NBC’s The Voice, yesterday released his long-awaited debut single, Who Cares. I know you remember him because Pip has a beautiful voice, he was on Adam Levine’s team and he is the one who wore the bow ties. You have to give a listen to Who Cares (available on iTunes) because it will get you jazzed and make you want to move and groove!!  Also, music is just plain fun and a proven stress buster.  Almost everyone I know (including me) can use a break from stress… Read More

Oh, Maya Angelou, you are one talented and wise woman! Her poem, Still I Rise, tells us about what it means to face life’s difficulties with courage and patience.  Staying committed to walk your journey and refusing to give up is not easy, but as long as we can take that first step and reach out for help, it can be done. Take Maya Angelou’s hand, read her inspiring thoughts and feel her strength in the following verses: Still I Rise By Maya Angelou You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me… Read More

You Say Tomato…

I can’t resist the red deliciousness of ripe, juicy summer tomatoes. . .plus, they are sooooooo good for you, body and soul. Tomatoes are considered a superfood because they contain a whole series of anticancer nutrients, such as lycopene, which is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect your body against degenerative diseases by neutralizing free radicals. What a mouthful!  In plain English what I’m trying to say is that tomatoes build up your immune system, the body’s front line system for fighting diseases.  In fact, doctors have found that a maintaining a diet high in the lycopene reduces the… Read More

New Orleans Deserves A Break

My son drywalling in New Orleans The people who live in the magical city of New Orleans know about resilience.  In fact, Webster’s dictionary should probably publish a picture of the city of New Orleans next to the word “resilience” to add depth to the word’s definition. Residents of New Orleans have proved over and over that they do have an incredible inner strength that gives them the “can-do” attitude to forge ahead and bounce back from natural disasters, the worst of which was Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and now is Hurricane Isaac. The rebuilding of New Orleans after Katrina… Read More

The Night of The Cicada

I am happy for the arrival of today, for yesterday was a day when I was trying to follow my own advice about staying positive, breaking down a problem and letting it go when you can’t do anything more. For me, I get stressed when I am thrown into a situation at work and expected to solve it quickly.  I can work under pressure but I don’t really like it.  I prefer to see the problem ahead of time and work on it in increments. But that isn’t what life is always about.  Untangling the problem takes time and sometimes… Read More
