It’s that time of year.
You know.  College admissions and rejections.
You are either laughing with joy from the news of your acceptance or crying because you got rejected.
If you didn’t get into the college you wanted, it feels as if it’s the end of the world, doesn’t it?  But guess what?
It’s not.
You don’t know where life is going to take you; who you’re going to meet and where you’re going to go.  Life is full of the unexpected and the unplanned.
I am in a place I never thought I would be but it’s still good!  … Read More

85 Year Old Friends

All of my friends are gifts. Friendships, no matter what your age, are healing and can help you maintain your mental balance.   Friends connect you to the dynamics of life and all it has to give.  Friends keep me going and remind me what life is truly about.  Hashing the ups and down of life cements my friendships, for they help me try to make sense — or least laugh — at what has happed to me or to them. It’s always great to make new friends but there is something about the chemistry of an old friendship that is… Read More

Hi Dear Friends! Yesterday I went for my annual eye exam and of course the doctor dilated my eyes.  I now have to use eye drops three to four times a day.  One is a prescription drop and the other is an over-the-counter brand.  I am just getting used to this new routine and I am finding that it’s a lot of drops to have rolling down my face.  Better get some water-proof mascara right? Needless to say, computer time has been temporarily shortened but today I still wanted to post some thoughts about healing and managing life’s wacky stresses.… Read More

I think the hardest thing about writing is writing.                                                ~ Journalist, Author and Screenwriter Nora Ephron During Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony, tributes were paid to those in the film industry who passed away in the past year.  Nora Ephron was among the brilliant people in the entertainment business who sadly died last year.  She most certainly was a bright twinkling star in her own right and the producers of the show chose to display the above quote in her honor. Ephron was a keen observer of American culture and especially the stormy and romantic relationships between men and women. … Read More

Have you heard of Kid President? While I was on YouTube the other day I discovered this young ball of fire who is very funny and very cute. So today’s post is about laughing because laughter is a tremendous resource for dealing with stress and forgetting how bad your day was.  Laughter is infectious and if you are laughing and smiling then your friends will want to know what’s going on to make you all giggly and then pretty soon they’ll be laughing too! More importantly, laughter may go a long way to reducing and healing the pain you may… Read More

Beers With Friends

A good friend of mine posted the below story on her Facebook page but there was no source of authorship so I don’t know who wrote it or where it came from. But I thought it was wonderful story, definitely asking me to think about how I spend my time and how I prioritize my life: family, friends, my health, my passions.  Do I get a sense of meaning from my work, daily activities and relationships?  Maybe I am letting the small stuff get in the way of the more important stuff? It’s always healthy to reassess yourself. I try… Read More

Sometimes A Decision Is Made For You

November 8th, 2012

Maybe it’s a bit of an election “hangover” or perhaps a reflection of my personal life, but lately it seems as though I have been on a decision-making bender of sorts. Has this ever happened to you?  I’m not sure if it’s true for you or not, but when it’s happening to me it feels as though I am going from one decision to the next with no breaks.  These decisions vary in importance — from stuff around the house to personal issues — but still they seem to keep coming at me with no end in sight. Just when… Read More
