It’s one thing to tell yourself that you’re not going to get stressed about the bumps and pitfalls of life and it’s an entirely another thing to actually get rid of the stress that unfortunately comes along with it.

Surprisingly, millions of adults have recently re-discovered the simple and easy fun that comes from taking up something that we all did in our childhoods: color.  Maybe you have read about the popularity of coloring books designed for adults and said to yourself that such a thing as sitting around and coloring pictures would be a silly waste of time since … Read More

In With The New

January 2016. With a new year comes questions. What do I want to change?  Do I want to change anything?  How can I change? Is it too late to learn something new? I ask myself about how I would like to live in this New Year of 2016. I ask myself if I am in my own way.  I ask myself if I am preventing certain personal changes from happening. Probably so and that’s where my work begins.  With my personal behavior. For me, being present in each day and living it the best I can is one of… Read More

And now let us welcome the New Year Full of things that have never been.                                    ~ Rainer Maria Rilke On this last day of 2015, I find myself reflecting, probably just as you are, on how the year went by so quickly, on some of the good and bad things that happened and what I have might learned from all of these amazing experiences. It seems like the natural thing to do. 2015 has been quite a year, bringing all sorts of surprises, but it also brought me a renewed sense of discovery.  A sense of appreciating instead of just… Read More

Experiencing The Holiday Spirit

Don’t you find that every Christmas has its own vibe and dynamic? I reminisce about Christmases past and there are things that stand out that I will never ever forget. From childhood Christmases, there is always the cozy sounds of Johnny Mathis while running around in my pajamas getting ready to put out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve.  Adult Christmases bring back loving memories of my late husband and those first Christmases with our young son.  I remember those Christmases as being simple in decorations and gifts and always having a feeling of innocence. And then there… Read More

Oh Fallen Christmas Tree

I was working on the computer this past weekend when I heard a sudden “thud” upstairs in the living room. As I ran up the steps to see what had happened, I had a sick feeling in my stomach that I knew what had fallen to make that sound. When I came around the corner and reached the living room, I found I was unfortunately right about the origin of that dull thud on the wooden floor. My beautiful Christmas tree had fallen.  With all of its lights and ornaments on it. And it was laying partially across the living… Read More

Holiday Breathing Space

As the calendar pulls me closer to the holidays, I am feeling those inner twinges that happen when my time starts being crunched by competing priorities at work and home. I try to look ahead and plan to prevent this feeling of running out of time to shop, cook and decorate but this year, somehow, it snuck up on me. It started a few days ago when I thought I knew what to buy for some family members and then I found out that the person already had the thing I had in mind and then some of the other… Read More

Me (left) and My Sister Sheila (right) with our Dad Wow! I don’t know about you but this past weekend just flew!! Mine was full of family activities and I was glad to get to all of them but in making sure it all got done, it seems that the weekend was spent going from one event to the next, and now I find, in the blink of an eye, that it’s Monday morning. I hope your weekend was productive and/or lots of fun and that many good things happened to you. Looking back on the past several days it… Read More

A Renewing Morning Intention

November 2nd, 2015

Every day I choose to begin the day with a healing intention. I promise it doesn’t take much time. Often before we even open our eyes after a night’s sleep, our minds are taking in conflicting thoughts. Maybe we have an early morning appointment.  Maybe we don’t feel well.  Maybe we need to get the kids off to school.  Maybe we need to get to work.  Maybe we have all of these things going on and the morning has already slipped into an crazy example of life in the fast lane. Instead of trying to keep up with the snowballing… Read More

Walkin’ Off Those Cupcakes

If you are anything like me, I have a tendency to overindulge on sweet treats over the weekends.  Especially now that Halloween candy seems to be everywhere!! Is it me or does it seem that right around the holidays the sugar manufacturers manage to introduce some new combination of ooey, gooey chocolatey temptation that we really don’t need but have to try? I try hard to crank up the amount of exercise I do every day to counteract the extra weekend calories but it just seems to get harder every year to work off those extra LBs. It’s a never… Read More
