How many ways can you say HOLIDAY WEEKEND?!?!?!?!

I am soooooo happy today to be on the cusp of Labor Day weekend, a very welcome three-day break from the grind of work.

I plan to have a long relaxing lunch with a wonderful friend on Saturday and then on Sunday go to another great friend’s house for a delicious seafood dinner with lots of homemade classic sides such as cole slaw and potato salad.

Double Yummmmm.  I’m already picturing the food in my mind and getting hungry.

I hope you have some fun plans for yourself and your buds or … Read More

Looking for Mr. Sandman

Monday morning is here already and I hope your weekend went just as you planned! For me, I wish I were feeling a little more refreshed and revived because don’t you hate it when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night? When your mind is thinking about things that have carried over from your day? This has happened to me a few times recently and I plan to roll with it until I can get back on track.  For even as we plan for the best to happen in our lives, sometimes traumas and tragic losses of… Read More

A Sick Day

If you live in my area of the world sometimes known as the #DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia), I sincerely hope you have not caught any of the strains of yucky flu quickly making themselves felt as they spread their awful symptoms through young and old. I had a flu shot this year but as my doctor told me yesterday this year’s flu shot unfortunately did not “cover” or protect me from the different strains of flu now floating around in search of perfectly healthy people it can attack and inhabit.  The first symptoms hit me like a wall… Read More

The change in seasons has been taking me for a bit of a roller coaster ride lately and I am ready to get off. I can’t quite put my finger on what is bringing about all of these conflicting feelings but I am determined not to let them get the best of me.  Some of it, I think, has to do with the sun beginning to set earlier now but I think the other factors may be a prolonged lack of sleep and a lot of family stuff rolling around in my brain.  I know I am tired and I… Read More

Hi Dear Friends! Yesterday I went for my annual eye exam and of course the doctor dilated my eyes.  I now have to use eye drops three to four times a day.  One is a prescription drop and the other is an over-the-counter brand.  I am just getting used to this new routine and I am finding that it’s a lot of drops to have rolling down my face.  Better get some water-proof mascara right? Needless to say, computer time has been temporarily shortened but today I still wanted to post some thoughts about healing and managing life’s wacky stresses.… Read More

Seaching for Serenity

As we try to find a way to deal with the tragic stories in the news about the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, let us try to find a way to take a break from the pain. A new work week begins and Christmas is close just a week away.  The juxtaposition of the Newtown stories, the social media dialogue; television and newspapers stories covering gun control, the state of mental health and parenting issues in the United States against the backdrop of Christmas decorations and music is jarring.I find myself turning off the television and only reading parts of stories because… Read More

Vick’s: A Quick Home Remedy I am fighting a cold and a cough.  I thought it was a 24-hour thing but it has lasted longer than I expected.  I probably caught it from someone in my office because lately there are a lot of sneezers and coughers around me. This is not the time of the year to feel sick.  I have been constantly washing my hands to prevent picking up germies but obviously this wasn’t enough.  I haven’t started my Christmas shopping; I have ideas but haven’t yet gone online to find the particular gifts I have in mind. … Read More

Happy Friday!

As I recouperate from the cold and cough that kicked in at the beginning of the week, I’m beginning to feel better so thank you for your good thoughts.  Plus it’s Friday so that automatically doubles my good feelings! I hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend and even if you don’t have any specific activity planned, quiet time can be good and so essential in building up mental reserves.  Or maybe I’m thinking of my own need for peace and quiet and restful times. As we work our way through Friday and slide into the weekend, here’s a… Read More
