It’s Friday.  Fabulous, fantastic Friday. Yea!!!!

I don’t know about you but by the end of the week I think we all deserve to find something that can make us laugh.  We were made to laugh.  It’s part of the human DNA.  Laughing is an immediate mood buster that instantly makes me feel whole lot better about what is going on in my neck of the woods.

Did you know that laughter releases the endorphins in your body?  Endorphins (this word always makes me think of dolphins jumping out of the water) are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals and when … Read More

Hi there Resilient Readers: I’ve been off the grid for a while and am happy to be back.  I needed to take a bit of break but I missed you A LOT and hope your life is currently full of some magical mixture of love, laughter and vibrant health. While I have been juggling some challenging issues affecting my family and friends, it has pushed me into having some spirited conversations and lots of quiet thought about what really makes life go ’round. I think it pretty much comes down to five things, and for me, the following five things… Read More

An Irish Sense of Humor

I love a holiday just as much as anyone else but to me St. Patrick’s Day is not just a day to “green up” and drink a lot of booze. It’s a whole lot more. It’s also a day to celebrate my Irish heritage and the unique way the Irish laugh at life.  I take pride in knowing that the Irish have a rich and historic culture made up of a lot more than pub crawling.  We also are a people known for having a wicked sense of humor.  A bit rough and tumble you might say. Growing up in… Read More

Everybody needs a good laugh and I know I could always get one every Saturday morning when I turned my radio on to NPR’s award-winning program, “Car Talk.” You might think it’s unusual for a woman to be listening to a program where two guys talk for about an hour about cars and their problems.  But for me, “Car Talk” was pure entertainment.  Oh my goodness, did they know how to have a good time! Tom and Ray understood the power of humor, that the ability to laugh at life and yourself is a tremendous resource for binding people together… Read More

Monday. I know Mondays can be painful. Today was one of those Monday mornings when I turned and looked at the alarm clock and just cursed it something nasty because I wasn’t  ready to get up and go.  Today I have an early appointment and needed to get out of bed to start my morning routine earlier than usual so maybe that’s why I’m feeling a bit cranky but still, time is precious and I am committed to making this a productive day. For no day is a day that should be hurried along.  Monday needs to roll out at… Read More

Lots of children and parents in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia are waking up earlier than usual this morning and wondering what happened to the easy breezy days of summer.  They are looking at the calendar and staring at today’s date and thinking, “How did this happen?  How could today be the first day of school?” A new school year is time to look forward with a sense of hope.  It’s a chance to do things a little different and a little better.  First days of anything offer the opportunity for a fresh start.  Of course, there may also be… Read More

Ew! It’s Funny Friday

What a whirl of a week this had been.  Deadlines. Pressure.  Meltdowns.  Not me.  Others. You’re familiar with this kind of dynamic aren’t you?  I know you must be because there is no way that this kind of stuff only happens to me. How do I deal?  (Did I hear someone say booze?) No my friends I don’t drink but I do make a lot of jokes about being in really awful situations because humor helps me cope.  I constantly make jokes about myself — and believe me there’s a lot of material there — and I also make jokes… Read More

SNL — Wrapping With Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon

A good laugh is worth a million bucks. Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon on Saturday Night Live There are a few of my friends and family members who can make me laugh so hard that I can’t get my breath and I love that they have this special talent.  They are usually imitating someone or just have the ability to see life in a quirky way and I always can use a dose of their sense of humor. Fortunately, there are also a few shows on television that also make me laugh.  One of them is “Saturday Night Live.”  When… Read More
