January 2016.

With a new year comes questions.

What do I want to change?  Do I want to change anything?  How can I change?

Is it too late to learn something new?

I ask myself about how I would like to live in this New Year of 2016.

I ask myself if I am in my own way.  I ask myself if I am preventing certain personal changes from happening.

Probably so and that’s where my work begins.  With my personal behavior.

For me, being present in each day and living it the best I can is one of … Read More

Holiday Temptations

Photo Courtesy of Katie Lee Kitchen Oh my goodness! A few days ago, I looked in the refrigerator and spied the last containers of homemade mashed potatoes and stuffing and I couldn’t take it anymore. I hate to waste food yet I had to throw the rest of the Thanksgiving leftovers away!  I know I overindulged over the holiday and it was yummy and fun but it also is time for the food party to stop. But it’s really hard, right?  I know it is for me.  Maybe it’s a little easier for you.  I definitely like to think you… Read More

Me (left) and My Sister Sheila (right) with our Dad Wow! I don’t know about you but this past weekend just flew!! Mine was full of family activities and I was glad to get to all of them but in making sure it all got done, it seems that the weekend was spent going from one event to the next, and now I find, in the blink of an eye, that it’s Monday morning. I hope your weekend was productive and/or lots of fun and that many good things happened to you. Looking back on the past several days it… Read More

Baby, I Miss You

September 11th, 2015

“I miss you.” It’s as simple and as complicated as a human emotion can be. Today is one of those days when thousands of Americans, including myself, will set aside time to remember and honor an event that changed us as human beings and Americans. It’s also one of those days when people around the globe will silently, angrily, tearfully and wistfully say, “I miss you,” as they remember a deceased loved one. For today is a day when the nation mentally turns the clock back 14 years to September 11, 2001, that horrific day of terrorism attacks in New… Read More

It’s Friday.  Fabulous, fantastic Friday. Yea!!!! I don’t know about you but by the end of the week I think we all deserve to find something that can make us laugh.  We were made to laugh.  It’s part of the human DNA.  Laughing is an immediate mood buster that instantly makes me feel whole lot better about what is going on in my neck of the woods. Did you know that laughter releases the endorphins in your body?  Endorphins (this word always makes me think of dolphins jumping out of the water) are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals and when … Read More

Today may be your first Memorial Day without a loved one. My heart goes out to you and your family as you try to process the overwhelming feelings of loss while also trying to figure out how to go on with your lives.  How can you make your way down this long, winding and sometimes brutal path?  It’s a path you do not want and yet, even as you try to reject it, you find it is one you are slowly learning to walk. ou may feel alone but you are not.  You are loved and many want to offer… Read More

Being A Fruit Loop

When I make a decision that doesn’t turn out the way I expect, I tend to mull it over, pull it apart and generally run thinking about it into the ground until I come to peace with the fact that the results weren’t too bad and that everyone does something at some point that they wish they had done a different way. I feel like I’m out there all by myself because most of the time I am the decision maker for things involving my life. In other words, I can feel like a Fruit Loop in a world full… Read More

Hi there Resilient Readers: I’ve been off the grid for a while and am happy to be back.  I needed to take a bit of break but I missed you A LOT and hope your life is currently full of some magical mixture of love, laughter and vibrant health. While I have been juggling some challenging issues affecting my family and friends, it has pushed me into having some spirited conversations and lots of quiet thought about what really makes life go ’round. I think it pretty much comes down to five things, and for me, the following five things… Read More

Those Confounding Gremlins

April 10th, 2015

Off and on for about the last month, I have had what the awesome Dr. Brene Brown (author of the New York Times bestselling book Daring Greatly) calls “gremlins” in my head, talking to me in a way that makes me occasionally question the validity of some of my decisions and personal projects. You know those gremlins.  The inner voices which can cause you to second guess what you’re doing and how you’re doing it.  Or they make you feel uncomfortable or afraid about life in general.  Sometimes I let the gremlins in and sometimes I don’t.  I try really… Read More
