Having a holiday break is so great on many levels.

I’m not on a regular schedule, I’m surrounded by homemade holiday food and I have the time to read.  Over this past Thanksgiving break, I had the extra time to finally finish an amazing and beautifully written  book that I enjoyed so much I would like to recommend it to you: The Boys In The Boat.

Officially,  The Boys In The Boat is a true story about nine young working class American boys and their gritty quest to win the gold medal in rowing at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.  But … Read More

Tommy At The Beach My heart is in a vulnerable place today for as much as I try every day to go forward and rebuild my life, the 12th of November always pulls me back to the morning of when my beloved husband Tommy died.  I have found there is really no way to prepare for this anniversary.  The ying and yang of the day can make me momentarily feel as though it just happened but then in the next moment it can make me feel that it has been more than 12 years since his tragic death. Little… Read More

Walkin’ Off Those Cupcakes

If you are anything like me, I have a tendency to overindulge on sweet treats over the weekends.  Especially now that Halloween candy seems to be everywhere!! Is it me or does it seem that right around the holidays the sugar manufacturers manage to introduce some new combination of ooey, gooey chocolatey temptation that we really don’t need but have to try? I try hard to crank up the amount of exercise I do every day to counteract the extra weekend calories but it just seems to get harder every year to work off those extra LBs. It’s a never… Read More

A Kind Connection

Mondays can sometimes feel a bit painful right? I find it helpful to plunge into a new work week by thinking about something positive or fun that may have happened to me over the weekend and those good feelings can help carry me through Monday. Something I will be thinking about today was an act of kindness that happened over the weekend from a person I hardly know. I was at a new yoga class on Saturday and while we were rolling up our mats after a peaceful session, some of us began to talk about Pope Francis and his… Read More

Hitting The Pause Button

This post may seem random but I promise if you hang with me I think you’ll see where I’m going. When I get home from work in the evening, I need to get out of my thoughts and do something that distracts me or relaxes me from whatever happened during the day.  I think it’s fair to say that most of us need to tune out the noise of everyday life and protect our well being. For me, I have to switch gears and clear my mind of work stuff.  There are usually two ways for me to do… Read More

Baby, I Miss You

September 11th, 2015

“I miss you.” It’s as simple and as complicated as a human emotion can be. Today is one of those days when thousands of Americans, including myself, will set aside time to remember and honor an event that changed us as human beings and Americans. It’s also one of those days when people around the globe will silently, angrily, tearfully and wistfully say, “I miss you,” as they remember a deceased loved one. For today is a day when the nation mentally turns the clock back 14 years to September 11, 2001, that horrific day of terrorism attacks in New… Read More

Hi Resilient Readers! I truly believe that every day is a gift from God and that in each day there is some good, some ray of sunshine that we can cherish for its ability to warm us and reveal surprising acts of kindness, compassion and love.     For me, the goodness of today is that 25 years ago I became a Mom. God gave me and my husband the incredible gift of a wondrous baby boy and ever since his birth I have been on the adventure of a lifetime.  From the moment you were handed to me, I… Read More

It’s Friday.  Fabulous, fantastic Friday. Yea!!!! I don’t know about you but by the end of the week I think we all deserve to find something that can make us laugh.  We were made to laugh.  It’s part of the human DNA.  Laughing is an immediate mood buster that instantly makes me feel whole lot better about what is going on in my neck of the woods. Did you know that laughter releases the endorphins in your body?  Endorphins (this word always makes me think of dolphins jumping out of the water) are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals and when … Read More

A New Look For Cry Laugh Heal

Hello! I am beyond excited for you to finally see the makeover of Cry Laugh Heal. It has been in the works for months and after a lot of hard work it feels wonderful to finally reveal it live and in living color. This remake comes about because I wanted a fresher, more polished look for Cry Laugh Heal.  One that would continue to contain personal thoughts about the explosive changes and quiet moments of desperation that can happen when a loved dies but also to give others who are grieving and trying to figure out how to get… Read More
